Cambridge’s OPEN (Overdose Prevention and Education Network) will hold their policy forum on September 16 from 5:30-7:30 at Tommy Doyle’s in Harvard Square (76 Winthrop St) and will feature panelists discussing overdose legislation, diversion to treatment and CORI reform. Waltham will hold a Community Farm Day on September 26 from 2-5 PM at Waltham Fields Community Farm featuring cooking demos and a chance to be outside and visit the farm! For more information, see the attached flyer called <Waltham Farm Day>.
The South Coastal Career Centers are offering a Community Resource Fair to provide general information about helpful community resources and disability-related employment information on October 8 from 10:00 am -12:00 pm at the Quincy Career Center. The Regional Center for Healthy Communities (Metrowest) will offer an Introduction to Substance Abuse Prevention on September 22 from 4-7 PM at the Regional Center, Central Square in Cambridge. This training will be ideal for new members of substance abuse coalitions, youth members of coalitions, and anyone looking to brush up on the latest approaches to prevention and what really works. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is sponsoring a series of webinars on Preventing Childhood Obesity weekly on Thursdays (including September 17) at 12 noon. For more information on the topics and to register, visit http://www.reversechildhoodobesity.org/webinars.
MADD is offering Youth in Action trainings for youth to prevent underage access to alcohol around the state including September 28 in Medford and September 29 in Weymouth. For more information on what training entails and to register, see the attached flyer called <YIA Trainings>.
The Domestic Violence Services Network (DVSN) is offering a training for police personnel including dispatchers on responding to domestic violence calls and collecting evidence on September 29 and 30 (same training both days) from 8:00-12:30 at the National Heritage Museum in Lexington.
