Somerville Cares About Prevention (SCAP) is offering free Guiding Good Choices workshops for Somerville parents of children 8-15 that has been proven to help parents protect their children from risky behaviors. SMOC is offering its Healthy Habits at Home program, a 6-week series on healthy weight for Metrowest parents. Funding Opportunities
The 84 Movement (formerly known as Mass Youth Against Tobacco –MYAT) is offering mini-grants for between $4,000 and $8,000 to research the impact of big tobacco or change policy in your community. The deadline is September 14. Both RFPs are attached called <Research and Action Mini-grants>.

The Bureau of Substance Abuse Services has issued a warning that some cocaine powder and crack has been cut with an animal drug that wipes out the user’s white blood cells and leaves them vulnerable to infections that can be severe and even fatal. Providers are asked to contact their regional BSAS director if cocaine users develop serious infections. Attached is an information sheet for users called <Bad Cocaine Alert>.
