Cambridge Prevention Coalition’s OPEN (Overdose Prevention and Education Network) project will hold their first community drop-in including discussion, resources and refreshments on May 11 from 5-7 PM at 119 Windsor Street in Cambridge.  Future meetings will be held the same time and location the second Monday of every month.  For more information, contact Mary Amato at 617.349.6346. 

Cambridge Cares About AIDS is hosting a dinner and discussion on Honoring the Syringe Exchange Movement with subject leaders including Allan Clear of the National Harm Reduction Coalition on May 20 from 6-9 PM at the Harvard-Epworth United Methodist Church, 1555 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge.  For more information, contact Lee Thornhill at lthornhill@ccaa.org or (617) 599-0216. 

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the MassPartnership for Healthy Communities are seeking nominations for Healthy Communities Principles Awards for communities that exemplify one of the nine healthy communities principles.  Nominations are due May 22 and winners will be announced at the Healthy Community Annual meeting on June 17 in Shrewsbury.  For complete nomination information, contact Peter Lee at plee@tmfnet.org.

Somerville Public Schools are looking for community participation on two advisory groups one for Strategic Communications which will meet the last Friday of the month, every other month at 1:00 PM beginning May 29 and one for After School Programming which will meet the first Thursday of the month, every month until September at 4:00 PM.   All meetings will be held at the Central Offices located in the Boys and Girls Club, 181 Washington St and there will be opportunities for “virtual” input for those who cannot attend the meetings.  For more information, contact Gretchen Kinder at 617-625-6600 x6013 or Email gkinder@k12.somerville.ma.us

The MassPartnership for Healthy Communities will hold its Third Annual Healthy Communities Meeting on June 17 from 10:00-2:30 at the Hoagland-Pincus Conference Center, 222 Maple Ave in Shrewsbury.

The Regional Center for Healthy Communities Library has great new resources available including a cyber-bullying prevention curriculum and a book of advice for teens by teens.  Also the complete print version of CesarFAX from 2008 is now available for borrowing.  Visit our library Monday through Friday, 9AM-5PM.
