The Regional Center for Healthy Communities (Metrowest) is excited to welcome Charlene Julien as a new Community Health Specialist at the Regional Center.  Charlene brings a background in political science focusing on human rights and political economy and experience both locally and internationally in the fields of healthcare, education, and non-profits.  She looks forward to meeting all of our community partners.

True Colors: Out Youth Theater will give a free performance of its original work Friends of Dorothy exploring issues of assumptions, coming out and other teen challenges on December 15 at 7 PM at the Central Square Theater, 450 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge.  To reserve tickets, contact Magda Spasiano at magda@thetheateroffensive.org

Conferences/Trainings

The BEST Initiative is offering a training on Supporting Boys: Healthy Relationships for Boys which integrates the youth development model into programming on December 15 and 22 from 9:30-2:00 at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center.  Registration is required (fee $100).  For more information, contact Daisy Ortega at dortega@hria.org.

The Regional Center for Healthy Communities (Metrowest) will offer two trainings on finding and getting funding with development consultant Cynthia Bargar on January 13.  In the morning from 9:00-12:30, Cynthia will offer a workshop on Grant Seeking: Finding Foundations that Fit and Engaging them in Lasting Relationships.  In the afternoon from 1:00-4:30, she will cover Writing for Results:  Crafting Grant Proposals that Sing.  Both trainings will be held at the Regional Center offices in Central Square, 552 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge.  For more information and to register, visit our calendar on our webpage http://www.healthier-communities.org/calendar

Funding Opportunities

CHNA 18 will be releasing a request for proposals in early January for projects to develop and foster new collaborations and partnerships across agencies and across communities within the CHNA (Brookline, Dedham, Dover, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Wellesley, Weston, and Westwood) while promoting awareness of health issues within the region.  The RFP will be available on the CHNA 18 page of our website http://www.healthier-communities.org/info/chna/chna18 and will be announced in e-News.
