Somerville Public Schools is holding a presentation by Massachusetts State Police on Gangs in Our Communities at the Somerville High school auditorium on Monday March 9 from 3:45-5:15. 

The Bedford Youth and Family Services is sponsoring a talk with Wendy Grolnick, PhD author of Pressured Parents, Stressed-Out Kids at the Bedford Free Public Library on Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room. 

The Massachusetts Poison Center will hold an event at the statehouse in honor of National Poison Prevention Week on March 18 from 9:30-11:00 AM in the Great Hall. For more information, please contact Colleen Longfellow at colleen.longfellow@childrens.harvard.edu

WATCH (Waltham Alliance to Create Housing) Community Development Corporation will hold its annual meeting and dinner (including board elections and discussion groups on community topics) on March 31 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm at First Parish Church, in Waltham.

WATCH will hold its 2009 Gala: Celebrating Community! including entertainment, dinner and silent auction on Thursday May 7th from 6 – 9 PM at the Robert Treat Paine Estate. For more information, e-mail watch@watchcdc.org

Conferences/Trainings

The Somerville Trauma Response Network will be offering training in the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) model of suicide prevention.  Workshops for adults will be held March 11, April 6, and May 14 all from 7:00-8:30 PM in Somerville (you need only attend one workshop for the complete training).  A training for youth only will be offered on May 7.  For more information and to register, contact Patty Contente at 617-625-6600 ext. 4325 or pcontente@somervillema.gov
