Cultural Awareness and Health Equity resources on the web:
- Summit Health Institute for Research and Education (SHIRE) has many free resources for people working to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities, including a guide for coalition building among communities of color. See: http://www.shireinc.org/reports.htm
- The Office of Minority Health, part of the US Department of Health and Human Services, has many resources, inlcluding the CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services) Standards. These standards are made for health care organizations, but can be useful in helping other organizations and groups think about ways to make their services more culturally and linguistically appropriate.
